These Blackberry Lemonade Margaritas are made in a blender with fresh blackberries and lemon juice for the most delicious frozen margaritas that are easy to make and enjoy at home!
(This recipe for these Blackberry Lemonade Margaritas was originally posted in April 2013, but was updated with new photos and content in 2018).
I'm dubbing today Margarita Monday. Because it's the end of July and we just had a gorgeous weekend and I feel like this Monday is an especially rough one. Plus, I think we all need to be drinking margaritas more often. I mean, how often do you make margaritas at home? I'm guessing the answer is not often enough. We actually have them quite a bit at home because Chris loves them so much and legit begs me to go out for Mexican food and margaritas every single week... So, I strike a bargain by making tacos and margaritas at home. When we're out, I almost never order frozen margaritas and much prefer them served on the rocks. Frozen margaritas tend to have a lot more sugar and are basically slushies for adults (don't get me wrong, that can be amazing when on a beach vacation... but not on a regular basis). I love making frozen margaritas at home because it's easy to control the ingredients and you know exactly what you're getting. And a blackberry lemonade margarita? Always better frozen.
All fresh ingredients here! Just blackberries, lemon juice, some granulated sugar, and tequila and cointreau, of course (you can use triple sec if you don't want to splurge on a bottle of cointreau). Everything gets blended together in your blender in like five seconds flat.
And then poured into margarita glasses. Or really, any type of glass you choose. I actually didn't own margarita glasses until just a few months ago and that feels like some sort of travesty. Now that I own them, I'm in full-on margarita-making mode. Which is the best mode you could possibly be in.
And makes Chris incredibly happy. Sometimes I'm the kind of wife who greets him at the door after work with a margarita. Isn't he lucky?
But really, this is the kind of margarita that you can easily make when you get home from work and enjoy within minutes. If you think margaritas are too tough to make during the week (especially without margarita mix), this blackberry lemonade margarita will definitely change your mind.
The toughest part about making them is squeezing the lemons and really, that takes about three minutes.
At the end of a long day, these blackberry lemonade margaritas totally hit the spot. They're perfectly icy and summery (which you'll be especially thankful for if the weather where you are isn't quite so icy right now). They're definitely on the tart side, which I LOVE. If you don't, you can always add more sugar (my blackberries weren't especially sweet). I think the delightfully smooth tequila also helped make these totally drinkable. If you're not traditionally a tequila lover, I'm pretty sure this could get you to come around!
If you love frozen lemonade, these blackberry lemonade margaritas are basically frozen lemonade with blackberries and tequila. So, DUH, you know they're going to be good.
Maybe you're not like me and you're not down with drinking cocktails on Mondays (though I highly recommend it), but that's OK because there are still plenty of Cocktail Fridays and weekends left in the summer. So bookmark this one, add the ingredients to your grocery list, and start sipping!
