If you're like me, you live by the philosophy that there's no bad time to have a burger. Summer, winter, spring, fall, morning, noon, or night.
While you may not always think of starting your day with a hamburger, they actually make an amazing breakfast and are especially fun to serve at a brunch party. Especially when those burgers are BUBBA burgers, high-quality burgers that are high in protein.
❤️ Why you'll love this recipe
Having a burger for breakfast is definitely a little bit different, but also super fun. You can dress it up any way you want and serve it between any type of carbohydrate you want... I chose waffles!
You can put together an entire burger bar for a brunch with friends. Or just grill some burgers and add on the toppings during a lazy weekend morning. If you're a fan of breakfast for dinner, you'll also love these breakfast burgers as an evening meal.
What are BUBBA burgers?
If you haven't heard of BUBBA burger yet, there are a couple things you should know. First of all, these high-quality, high-protein burgers are made with just one ingredient and that ingredient is real beef. There are no additives or preservatives in them.
The burgers come frozen, but you don't need to thaw them before cooking them. In fact, you shouldn't. Just take them out of your freezer, put them in a skillet or grill pan or on your grill and they'll be ready in about 10 minutes.
I LOVE that because it means I don't have to remember to thaw them and can easily make them whenever I choose. Even if that's first thing in the morning!
BUBBA has lots of burger varieties, including original (100% USDA choice beef chuck), Angus, Bacon Cheddar, Jalapeño Cheddar, Sweet Onion, Wagyu, and more.
They also have various varieties of turkey burgers, veggie burgers, and gluten-free. There's truly something for everyone! The burgers are available nation-wide, so you should be able to get them near you.

One of the fun things about these breakfast burgers is that you can top them with anything you want. If you want to make them just like I did, here's what you need (see recipe card below for ingredient amounts and full instructions):
- BUBBA burgers
- Cheddar cheese (or cheese of your choice)
- Waffles (or bread or carbohydrate of your choice)
- Fried eggs
- Avocado, thinly sliced
- Bacon, cooked crispy
- Spicy mayo spread or maple syrup
🍔 How to make breakfast burgers
You are welcome to either grill your BUBBA burgers or to cook them in a skillet or grill pan. I've done both and both work really well!
Just put the frozen burgers on the grill or in a skillet/grill pan and cook for about 5 minutes, until you start to see juices rise to the top of the burger. Flip and cook for another 4-6 minutes, until the internal temperature is about 160 degrees.
When the burgers are almost done cooking, top them with cheese, so it can melt a little bit.
If your waffles are store-bought or if you're using buns, toast them a bit.
You can either spread spicy mayo on the waffles or use maple syrup... Or use both if you're like me! Some people don't love the sweetness of maple syrup with savory burgers, eggs, and cheese, but I think it's the perfect combination.
Top the waffles with the cooked BUBBA burger, egg (you can top the burgers with either one egg or two), avocado, bacon, and a second waffle.
And dig in!
If you're me, once you build your burger, you'll also drizzle a little maple syrup over the top.
BUBBA burgers are so incredibly juicy and go so well with the cheese, egg, bacon, and avocado I topped them with. After you try this, there's a high chance you'll want to start every weekend morning with a breakfast burger! Maybe even a weekday, too...
If you're having friends or family over for brunch, set up a breakfast burger bar with BUBBA burgers and a whole variety of toppings, including eggs, bacon, cheese, sausage, avocado, tomato, lettuce, and more.
Also include waffles, pancakes, and buns, along with various condiments.
Grill the burgers and let your guests build their own breakfast burgers!
My family eats a lot of burgers during the summer months (though we enjoy them year round) and I can say, without a doubt, that BUBBA burgers are going to be our new burger of summer!
I'm in love with the idea that we don't have to thaw them and can have burgers in just minutes with no pre-planning. Whether that's for a last-minute easy dinner or for brunch on a whim!
