This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Shaw’s Supermarket. All opinions are 100% mine.
Happy Halloween week! For whatever reason, I've been in the Halloween spirit extra this year. I'm not generally a big Halloween person, but this year I've wanted to watch all the spooky movies, decorate my house with all the seasonal decor, and, of course, eat all the candy and treats.
Lucky for me, I'm teaming up with Shaw’s Supermarket once again; this time to share with you all the goodies they have to celebrate your favorite October holiday. And trust me, they've got the goodies!
Your Halloween celebrations may be a little bit different this year and it sounds like lots of people will be having small gatherings at home with select friends and family. I put together this Halloween spread that's perfect for exactly that!
Shaw's was my one-stop-shop for all of these goodies and they made it ridiculously easy to put together what I think is a pretty impressive spread. once I had my grab ‘n go treats, I got home and put together this spread in just minutes!
Shaw's also offers Grocery Delivery and Pick Up for more convenient ways to shop!
First things first, I picked up this lovely antipasto platter from Shaw's deli. It contains lots of Italian meat, cheese, olives, marinated artichokes and mushrooms, and peppers.
They do such a great job arranging it in a visually appealing way and there's something everyone will love.
In addition to the antipasto tray, they also offer deli catering sandwich trays, and deli fruit/cheese trays.
I also grabbed some of Shaw's made-in-store salsa and guacamole and was super impressed by how incredibly fresh and delicious they were.
I love that the guacamole had some avocado chunks and that the salsa wasn't spicy but had a ton of flavor.
I obviously stopped by the bakery, too, to check out the Halloween treats.
I'm in love with these little cupcakes!
And the candy. Omg the candy. Shaw's has so many aisles of Halloween candy right now and I spent about 30 minutes trying to decide what kind to buy.
I finally decided on a variety pack of chocolate/sweets and lots and lots of candy corn.
In part because I just like to have it around during the Halloween season, in part because my husband absolutely loves it, and in part because I wanted to make this candy corn toffee!
But I'm also planning to use it for my Halloween Party Popcorn and Halloween Trail Mix.
How to make candy corn toffee Recipe
If you've never made homemade toffee before, you should know that it's quite easy and only requires a few steps.
Start by combining butter, granulated sugar, and salt in a medium saucepan over medium-low heat.
Stirring every now and then, let the mixture cook for about 10-15 minutes, until it turns into a brown, peanut butter-like color.
After you make toffee enough times, this will become second nature to you, but if you're nervous about not cooking it enough or letting it get too dark, you can use a candy thermometer and just cook until it reaches 190-300 degrees (this is called the hard crack stage of candy making).
Remove saucepan from heat and stir in the vanilla.
Immediately pour toffee mixture onto a parchment paper or Silpat-lined baking sheet. Sprinkle chocolate chips over the top and let sit for about 2 minutes.
While chocolate chips are resting, melt white chocolate chips in the microwave (or however you prefer to melt them).
Using an offet spatula, spread semisweet chocolate chips over the toffee. Drizzle melted white chocolate over and use a knife to swirl it around.
Sprinkle with candy corn and sprinkles.
Let sit for at least 2 hours to harden.
Break candy corn toffee into pieces and enjoy!
How fun is this?? Candy corn already has a buttery, almost caramel-like flavor, so incorporating it into toffee just works so perfectly.
Candy corn is chewy and toffee is crunchy, so this candy corn toffee has the best of both candy worlds.
It's the kind of treat you can put in cute seasonal bags and gift to friends or the kind you can serve during a small Halloween gathering.
Or simply the kind you can eat on the couch while watching a spooky Halloween movie!
Personally, I think it's a fabulous addition to a full Halloween spread that's packed with lots of savory and sweet options.
You may even be able to get a few candy corn dissenters to admit that when incorporated into toffee, candy corn is pretty tasty.
In any event, your friends and family will easily be able to find quite a few things they love about this Halloween spread!
I shopped at Shaw's Supermarket in my local area, but you can also find quality grab ‘n go deli, produce, candy, and bakery offerings perfect for Halloween at the Albertsons Companies family of stores, including Albertsons, Safeway, ACME Markets, Jewel-Osco, Randalls, Star Market, Tom Thumb and Vons.
