What is a Macchiato?

A traditional macchiato is mostly espresso, with a touch of milk. But at Starbucks, they're a little espresso and a lot of steamed milk. Plus a flavored syrup and a bit of frothed milk on top.

Ingredients:

1) Apple Brown Sugar Simple Syrup (recipe provided) 2) Brewed espresso or strong coffee 3) Steamed milk 4) Frothed milk 5) Caramel & ground cinnamon for topping (optional)

Simple Syrup Ingredients:

1) Water 2) Brown sugar (light or dark) 3) Apples, sliced 4) Ground cinnamon

Put water, sugar, sliced apples, & cinnamon in saucepan & bring mixture to a boil.

Make Simple Syrup

Lower heat & let simmer for 15-20 mins, until mixture has thickened into a syrup & apples have softened.

Strain mixture into a bowl, pressing down on apples to extract as much juice as possible.

Keep syrup in bowl or pour into a mason jar & place in fridge to cool completely.

Cool Simple Syrup

Add apple brown sugar simple syrup & brewed espresso to a heat-proof glass.

Make Macchiato

Heat Milk to 140-150 degrees. I like to to put milk in jar, shake, & heat in microwave to makes teamed milk & froth.

Make Macchiato

Pour steamed milk in glass & top with froth.
