– Unsalted butter –  Brown sugar – Granulated sugar – Sour Cream – Large egg – Peppermint extract – Flour

– Unsweetened cocoa powder – Baking powder – Baking soda – Salt – Confectioners' sugar – Crushed candy canes

Preheat oven to 325 degrees & line two baking sheets with parchment paper or Silpats.

Step 1

In the bowl of a stand mixer or large bowl with hand mixer, cream butter, brown sugar, & ½ cup granulated sugar until light & fluffy, 2-3 mins.

Step 2

Add sour cream, egg, & peppermint extract & beat to combine.

Step 3

In a separate large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, & salt.

Step 4

Pour dry ingredients into wet mixture & beat until just combined, taking care not to over-mix.

Step 5

Place ¼ cup sugar in small bowl & place confectioners' sugar in a small bowl. Using 2 Tbsp of dough at a time, roll into balls. Roll each ball into sugars. Place on prepared baking sheets 2 inches apart.

Step 6

Bake cookies for about 16 mins, until set. They should still be a bit soft. Let cool in pan for a couple mins before moving to rack to cool completely.

Step 7

In a medium bowl, whisk together sour cream, confectioners' sugar, vanilla extract, & 1 tsp milk. If icing is too thick, add remaining tsp milk.

Step 8

Once cookies are completely cooled, drizzle with sour cream icing & sprinkle with crushed candy canes.

Step 9

These chocolate crinkle cookies are packed with  the best holiday flavors & are perfectly moist. Your guests will all be asking for the recipe!
