Skillet Green Bean Casserole

Easy and Delicious!

Looking for the best green bean casserole ever? This Skillet Green Bean Casserole is made with all fresh ingredients & easy to prep ahead of time for the big holiday meal!

Ingredients

-Haricots verts (or regular green beans) -Whole-wheat bread -Chopped parsley -Olive oil -Garlic -Parmesan cheese -Yellow onion -Mushrooms

-All-purpose flour -Chicken stock -Milk -Dry sherry -Salt -Pepper -Ground nutmeg

Bring a large saucepan filled with water to a boil.

Step 1

Cook beans for 3 mins (1-2 minw longer if not using haricot verts) or until crisp-tender. Plunge beans into ice water to stop cooking & drain.

Step 2

Put bread in food processor and pulse until coarse crumbs form.

Step 3

Remove to a bowl & mix in parsley, 1 Tbsp olive oil, minced garlic, & 2 Tbsp grated parmesan cheese.

Step 4

Pre-heat broiler to high & heat  remaining 2 Tbsp olive oil in a 10-inch cast-iron skillet over medium heat. 

Step 5

Add onion & mushrooms to skillet & sauté for about 8 mins. Stir in flour & cook for 1 min.

Step 6

Stir stock, milk, & sherry into the skillet & bring to a simmer. Cook for about 3 mins.

Step 7

Remove skillet from heat & stir in remaining parm, salt, pepper, & nutmeg. Add beans & toss to coat.

Step 8

Sprinkle skillet with breadcrumb mixture & place under broiler for 2 minutes.

Step 9

This green bean casserole will make a great addition to your Thanksgiving or Christmas menu. It's truly "from scratch" but couldn't be easier!
