Cake Mix Donuts

Cake Mix Donuts are the quickest and easiest baked donut recipe you can find! With just a box of the cake mix flavor of your choice (we love Funfetti!) and a few other ingredients, you can make a simply sweet and delicious donut!

Ingredients

  • 1 15.25 oz. box cake mix
  • 1 large egg
  • ¾ cup milk
  • ¼ cup vegetable oil

Donut Frosting

  • 1 cup store-bought frosting
  • 2-4 teaspoon milk

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees and spray a donut pan with cooking spray.
  • In a large bowl, mix together cake mix, egg, milk, and vegetable oil until just combined and smooth, taking care not to over-mix.
  • Fill each cavity in donut pan about ¾ of the way with batter. I recommend putting the batter in a plastic bag and cutting off the corner to pipe it into the pan (you can also use a pastry bag).
  • Bake donuts for 14-18 minutes, until they're light and springy to the touch. Let cool in the pan for a few minutes and then remove to a wire rack to cool completely. If you only have a 6-cavity donut pan, repeat with remaining batter.
  • Dip cooled donuts upside down in frosting until coated and add sprinkles, if desired.

Donut Frosting

  • Put about 1 cup store-bought frosting in a bowl. Mix in milk 1 teaspoon at a time until you have a dippable frosting consistency.

Notes

  • If your box of cake mix is 13.25 oz, omit 1 tablespoon of milk and 1 tablespoon vegetable oil from recipe. You may only get 11 donuts.
  • If you prefer a homemade donut icing, use this recipe.
