Ingredients

  • Cornmeal and all-purpose flour, for pizza pan
  • 1 batch pizza dough (store-bought or recipe below)
  • 1 ½ tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 8 oz sliced fresh mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup crumbled gorgonzola cheese
  • 4 slices prosciutto
  • 2 oz hot soppressata (or pepperoni)
  • ¼ small onion, thinly sliced
  • Chopped basil, for topping
  • 1 tablespoon hot honey, for topping

Hot Honey Pizza Dough

  • 1 ¼ teaspoon active dry yeast
  • ¾ cup lukewarm water (105-115 degrees)
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon hot honey
  • 1 ½ cups + 2-3 Tbsp all-purpose flour

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 450 degrees and lightly dust a round baking pan with cornmeal and flour.
  • In a small bowl, mix together olive oil and minced garlic.
  • Stretch dough out to fit it on the prepared baking sheet (I like to roll it out on a lightly floured surface) and brush lightly with olive oil, making sure to brush all the way to the edges of dough.
  • Place on sliced mozzarella cheese and sprinkle gorgonzola over dough.
  • Layer on prosciutto and hot soppressata. Top with sliced red onion.
  • Bake pizza for 10-12 minutes, until crust is golden and cheese is bubbling and turning golden.
  • Sprinkle fresh basil all around and drizzle on hot honey.

Hot Honey Pizza Dough

  • Mix yeast and water in a large bowl and let rest for 2 minutes.
  • Stir salt, extra-virgin olive oil, and hot honey into the mixture.
  • With a wooden spoon, mix 1 ½ cup + 2 tablespoon flour into the mixture.  If dough feels too wet, you can add in another tablespoon flour. Form dough into a ball and gently knead a few times in the bowl.
  • Cover bowl with a kitchen towel and let rest in a warm spot for about 2 hours, so dough can rise.
