Ingredients

  • 3 oz. brewed espresso (or strongly brewed coffee), Starbucks uses blonde roast espresso
  • 1 ½ oz. brown sugar syrup (recipe below or store-bought)
  • Ice
  • 4 oz. (½ cup) oat milk (or dairy or non-dairy alternative of your choice
  • teaspoon ground cinnamon, for topping

Brown Sugar Syrup

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup brown sugar (your choice of dark or light)

Instructions

  • Pour espresso and brown sugar syrup into a mason jar or cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake vigorously for about 20 seconds until espresso is nice and frothy.
  • Pour entire contents of shaker (ice included) into a glass. Add oat milk.
  • Sprinkle ground cinnamon over the top.

Brown Sugar Syrup

  • Add water and brown sugar to a medium saucepan and bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
  • Once boiling, lower heat and let mixture simmer for about 10 minutes, until sugar is completely dissolved and syrup has thickened a bit (it will continue to thicken as it cools).
  • Remove saucepan from heat and pour syrup into a heat-proof bowl or mason jar. Place bowl or jar in fridge to cool completely before using.

Notes

  • If you like a sweeter drink, add more syrup. If it's too sweet for you, add less syrup or more espresso and oat milk. Adjust the ingredients until you have the perfect iced espresso to suit your tastes!
