Preheat oven to 450 degrees and lightly brush a 12-cavity cupcake tin with olive oil or cooking spray.
On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough to about ¼" thickness. Cut out 12 circles roughly 3-inches in diameter. You can use a circle cookie cutter, a drinking glass, etc. Re-roll dough scraps when necessary.
Gently press dough circles into the bottoms of the tin, going up the sides.
Spoon about 1 ½ teaspoon of pizza sauce into each dough cup. Sprinkle with about 1 tablespoon of shredded cheese and 4-5 mini pepperonis. Top with dried basil and red pepper flakes, if desired.
Put in oven and bake for about 10-12 minutes, until cheese is bubbling and edges of dough are turning golden.
Let cool for a couple minutes before enjoying!
