Ingredients

  • 1 ½ oz tequila (I recommend blanco)
  • 1 oz Cointreu or triple sec
  • 3 oz mango puree (homemade with recipe below or store-bought)
  • 1 ½ oz jalapeño syrup (homemade with recipe below or store-bought)
  • 1 oz freshly squeezed lime juice
  • Optional Garnishes: Tajin or coarse salt and chili powder mixture for glass rim, lime slices or wedges, sliced jalapeños.

Mango Puree

  • 1 ¼ cup fresh chopped mango (from about 1 large mango)
  • ¾ oz freshly squeezed lime juice

Jalapeño Syrup

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • cup sliced jalapeños (from 1-2 jalapeño peppers)

Instructions

  • Optional: brush glass rim with syrup or lime juice and dip in Tajin or a mixture of coarse salt and chili powder to coat rim.
  • In an ice-filled cocktail shaker, combine tequila, Cointreau or triple sec, mango puree, jalapeño syrup, lime juice.
  • Shake well and strain into prepared glass filled with ice.
  • Garnish with lime slice and sliced jalapeños, if desired.

Mango Puree

  • Add chopped mango and lime juice to a blender and process until smooth.

Jalapeño Simple Syrup

  • Put water and sugar in a medium saucepan and bring to a boil. Add sliced jalapeños.
  • Lower heat and let simmer for about 10 minutes, until syrup has thickened.
  • Pour mixture into a heat-proof bowl or mason jar (strain peppers out if you want to keep the spiciness level down). Place bowl or jar in fridge to cool completely before using.

Notes

  • Mango puree recipe makes enough for about 3 margaritas.
  • Jalapeño syrup recipe makes enough for about 6 margaritas.
