This Mango Jalapeño Margarita is the perfect combination of sweet and spicy and the most refreshing summer cocktail. It's easy to prepare with fresh ingredients, but I also offer several shortcuts to make it even easier.

Mango is one of the most underrated fruity flavors of summer. And while I understand that mangos can be a pain to peel, they really do work perfect in cocktails and especially margaritas.
The fruit also pairs well with spicy jalapeños and this mango jalapeño margarita is one summer cocktail you'll want to enjoy all summer long!
❤️ Why this recipe works
Sweet and spicy combo: Sweet mango and spicy jalapeño are the perfect pairing. The flavors balance each other and are so refreshing on a hot day.
Simple ingredients: You only need 5 simple ingredients for this margarita, but also have the option to make the jalapeño simple syrup from scratch.
Quick and easy: It takes just a few minutes to add the ingredients to a shaker and mix up the perfect summer cocktail!
Great for a crowd: If you want to serve this mango jalapeño margarita to guests, it's easy to mix up a big batch in a blender and pour into prepared glasses.
Easy to control the heat: If you like an extra spicy margarita, you can add some extra sliced jalapeños with the seeds in. You can also make the drink a bit milder if you prefer.
🗒 Ingredients
Here's everything you need for this delicious summer margarita (be sure to view the recipe card at the bottom of this post for ingredient amounts and full recipe instructions):
- Tequila: I recommend a blanco tequila
- Cointreau or triple sec: I always prefer cointreau, but you can certainly use triple sec as a more budget-friendly option
- Mango puree: I make my own homemade mango puree with fresh mangos and share instructions for how to do so, but you can also use a store-bought version. I highly recommend using a 100% mango puree with no added sugar (or else your margarita could be too sweet with the simple syrup added)
- Jalapeño syrup: I share my recipe for homemade jalapeño syrup, but you can also use a store-bought syrup.
- Freshly squeezed lime juice
If you're making your own mango puree, you just need:
- Fresh mangoes
- Lime juice
And if you're making your own jalapeño simple syrup, you just need:
- Water
- Granulated Sugar
- Fresh jalapeño pepper
🥭 Recipe tips
This margarita recipe couldn't be easier, but here are a few helpful tips!
- I recommend making your own fresh mango puree, but peeling and chopping a large mango and putting it in a blender with some lime juice.
- If you don't want to peel and chop a mango, you can use frozen mango!
- And if you just want to use store-bought mango puree instead, try to find a no sugar-added variety, like this one.

- Prep your homemade jalapeño syrup ahead of time as it will need time to chill. Here's my full post on jalapeño simple syrup for in-depth details.
- If you love spice, keep the seeds in the jalapeño slices for your syrup. If you want a milder drink, remove the seeds before making the syrup.

- You can also keep the peppers in the syrup once it's done and chilling. This will add even more heat to your syrup!

- I recommend garnishing your cocktail glass with a little spice. You can use Tajin or a coarse salt and chili powder mixture. If you prefer less spice, stick to the traditional salt or granulated sugar.

- Add ice to your cocktail shaker and then add in all the ingredients- tequila, Cointreau or triple sec, mango puree, jalapeño simple syrup, and lime juice. Be sure to shake the mixture really well.

- Strain the margarita mixture into your prepared glass filled with ice and add any garnishes you like. I stick to a lemon slice and additional jalapeño slices.

🎉 To make for a crowd
If you're hosting a gathering and want to serve these mango jalapeño margaritas to a crowd, it's easy to do!
I recommend adding the following to a large pitcher (or split between two pitchers) or a gallon-sized drink dispenser to serve 10:
- 30 oz tequila
- 15 oz Cointreau or triple sec
- 30 oz fresh mango puree (3 batches of mango puree recipe)
- 15 oz jalapeño syrup (2 batches of jalapeño syrup recipe)
- 10 oz freshly squeezed lime juice (about 10-12 limes)
Keep mixture chilled until you're ready to serve and prepare glasses with Tajin or salt/chili powder rims ahead of time. You can also set out little dishes of cocktail garnishes.
When guests arrive, allow them to scoop ice into the prepared glasses, pour the cocktail in, and add their own garnishes.
🍓 Flavor variations
I love the simplicity and deliciousness of mango and jalapeño together, but adding other flavors to this classic margarita can also be incredible.
Here are some ideas:
- Pineapple: replace half the chopped mango with chopped pineapple and blend together for a mango pineapple puree.
- Passionfruit: add a little passionfruit puree to your shaker when you're mixing up the cocktail.
- Habanero: replace the jalapeño syrup with a habanero syrup or use the spicy pepper you like best.
- Ginger: add some peeled ginger to your shaker when you're mixing your cocktail to add a light complementary flavor.
- Cilantro: add some chopped cilantro to your shaker to gently infuse the cocktail mixture with herby flavor.
- Hibiscus: steep some dried hibiscus flowers in your simple syrup once it's off the heat to add some tart rosy flavor to your drink.
- Mezcal: instead of using blanco tequila, use mezcal for a smoky version of this drink.

And if you prefer a frozen mango jalapeño margarita, simply add all the ingredients into a blender, along with some ice!
