While there isn't an exact Iced Strawberry Matcha Latte on the U.S.

Starbucks used to be the place you'd order coffee drinks from because they sounded really good. These days? It's often the place people order drinks from because they look good.
Everyone is looking for the next super Instagrammable drink; sometimes they're on the
The strawberry matcha latte is a drink that never officially made it to U.S.
I decided to create my strawberry matcha latte recipe in a way that would make it as visually appealing as possible. But don't worry; it's also super delicious!
You can make it how I describe it in the recipe (my favorite way!) or use any of the alternatives I also share with you.
🍓 What is a Strawberry Matcha Latte?
It depends on who you ask! The beauty of making this drink at home is that you can make it exactly how you want it.
In Canada, the Strawberry Matcha Latte is basically a matcha latte made with oat milk with strawberry syrup and freeze-dried strawberry pieces blended in.
In Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), it's a matcha latte (with no-sugar added matcha) topped with strawberry cold foam.
But the drink that everyone seems to be asking for in the United States is what I recreated here. It's an iced coconut milk with strawberry puree and matcha cold foam.
🗒 Ingredients
You don't need too many ingredients to make this delicious strawberry green tea latte. It has three elements to it, but the only one you have to make from scratch is the matcha cold foam.
Here's everything you need for the drink (be sure to view the recipe card at the bottom of this post for ingredient amounts and full recipe instructions):
- Sweetened coconut milk: the kind in the carton. If you want a less sweet drink, you can use unsweetened
- Strawberry puree: I provide an easy recipe for you or you can use store-bought strawberry puree
- Matcha cold foam: I also share the homemade recipe for this with you!
If you're making your own strawberry puree, here's what you need:
- Whole strawberries: fresh or thawed from frozen
- Granulated sugar
- Water
And for the matcha cold foam, you need:
- Matcha powder: I use sweetened matcha powder since
Starbucks in the U.S. does, but you can use unsweetened if you prefer - Warm water
- 2% milk
- Heavy cream
- Vanilla syrup: you can make your own with my homemade vanilla syrup recipe or use a store-bought vanilla syrup
👩🍳 How to make strawberry puree
Making strawberry puree is super easy with either fresh or thawed frozen strawberries. But you can also purchase a container of it if you prefer.
To make the puree, put the strawberries, sugar, and water in a blender.
And process until a puree forms.
The recipe I provide is just enough for one drink, but you can easily make a double or triple batch of the puree all at once.
🍵 How to make matcha cold foam
I love making my own flavored cold foams and am so excited to have one more delicious one to add to my list.
Matcha cold foam is super easy to make and is simply vanilla sweet cream cold foam with sweetened matcha powder added to it.
I recommend dissolving the matcha powder in a little bit of hot water before adding it to the cold foam. I use 4 teaspoon of matcha powder and 1 tablespoon warm water for my batch of cold foam that makes two drinks.
Add milk, cream, vanilla syrup, and dissolved matcha powder in a mason jar and shake to combine. Alternatively, you can stir all ingredients together in a bowl.
This is your Matcha Sweet Cream, which is also a great drink addition. If you're not using right away, keep in an airtight container in the fridge.
I recommend turning the sweet cream into a cold foam right before you're ready to enjoy your latte.
To turn it into foam, simply use an electric frother, hand mixer, or blender.
Add half the sweet cream and froth, mix, or blend until the mixture turns into a foam.
If you don't have any of those devices, you can just shake the mixture in a mason jar until it's frothy.
🥤 How to make the drink
Now to assemble the drink, pour the strawberry puree into the bottom of a cup.
And add ice. The layer of ice helps keep the strawberry puree and coconut milk separated a little bit for a pretty visual effect.
Pour in coconut milk.
And then add matcha cold foam to the top.
Yesss how beautiful are all those colors?
I'll admit that I first wanted to try this drink because of how pretty it looked.
But once I tried it, I realized it also tastes REALLY good. It's the perfect drink for someone who's a little bit skeptical about matcha, but wants to try to get into it.
The earthy matcha flavor combined with fruity strawberry flavor and sweet and creamy coconut milk is absolute perfection.
Of course, the drink is packed with sweetness as many
🎉 Variations on recipe
This copycat recipe is my take on the Strawberry Matcha Latte, but obviously there are so many different ways you could make a drink with that name. And also lots of fun things you can do to this recipe to make it your own.
Here are some ideas:
- To lower the sugar in the drink, use unsweetened coconut milk and/or unsweetened matcha.
- If you want more sweetness, you can always add more syrup to the drink. Vanilla syrup, strawberry syrup, or plain simple syrup would all work.
- Feel free to make the drink with the dairy or non-dairy alternative of your choice. Oat milk, soy milk, almond milk, or regular dairy milk are all good choices. Try to get the barista editions of the dairy-alternatives if you can find them as they're usually a more pure white color and creamier.
- Add freeze-dried strawberries to the drink for even more strawberry flavor and a fun look.
- To make the drink the way
Starbucks does in Canada, make an iced matcha latte with oat milk and mix in strawberry syrup and freeze-dried strawberries.
- To make the drink the way they make it in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, make fill the glass about ¼ of the way with matcha powder/hot water (make sure to use unsweetened matcha powder), stir in vanilla syrup, and add ice. Top the drink off with strawberry cold foam (you can use the same cold foam recipe I use here, but add 1 tablespoon of strawberry puree instead of matcha powder).
There are so many ways to customize this drink to make it the matcha and strawberry combination of your dreams!

To order it like this one, just ask for a "grande ice cold coconut milk with strawberry puree at the bottom, ice before the milk, and vanilla sweet cream cold foam with 4 scoops of matcha in foam."
