I couldn't be any happier to announce that two of my favorite special interests have merged together into one: coffee and fluff.
It's an iced coffee drink that's pretty much a dream come true. It's called the Fluffy Seagull and if you haven't heard about it yet, you soon will.
It originated in a Cape Cod cafe, but I'm excited to share an easy copycat recipe that you can make at home!
☁️ What is a Fluffy Seagull?
If you live in New England, chances are high that you've heard of the Fluffy Seagull, even if you haven't made it to Cape Cod to try it out.
It was invented at the Lighthouse Keeper's Pantry in Yarmouth, MA (on the Cape), in 2023. But it really took off in 2025, sparking viral videos and huge lines at the cafe.
So, what exactly is the Fluffy Seagull and why should you want to make one at home if you can't get to Cape Cod to try it for yourself?
Think of an ice coffee flavored like a peanut butter and fluff (fluffernutter) sandwich. The iced espresso is combined with a sweet peanut butter syrup and served in a cup with fluff smeared along the sides.
The result is absolutely delicious and a super fun-looking coffee drink. And it's so New England considering Fluff was invented in Massachusetts and we love our fluffernutter sandwiches here!
🗒 Ingredients
This viral iced coffee drink is really easy to make at home with just a few simple ingredients. I love making homemade peanut butter syrup, but you can also feel free to buy a bottle of it.
Here's everything you need for the Fluffy Seagull coffee (be sure to view the recipe card at the bottom of this post for ingredient amounts and full recipe instructions):
- Marshmallow Fluff
- Espresso
- Peanut butter syrup store-bought or homemade with peanut butter syrup recipe
- Milk:
- Ice
If you're making your own peanut butter syrup, you'll need:
- Water
- Peanut butter
- Granulated sugar
🧋 Tips for making
If you've ever made a latte at home, making a Fluffy Seagull will be super easy for you. But I'm happy to share some tips to make it even better.
If you're making your own peanut butter syrup, you can check out my full blog post about the process. But it's pretty simple to do!
- You just need to bring the water, peanut butter, and granulated sugar to a boil and then reduce heat to low and let simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until mixture has thickened.

- I recommend storing the syrup in a mason jar or another heat-proof container. Cool completely before using in your latte.

- The syrup will settle and thicken as it cools. You will need to shake it when you take it out of the fridge. If it's still too thick, warm it for 30 seconds in the microwave.

- Use the back of a rubber spatula or a spoon to swipe the inside of your cup with marshmallow fluff. You can really use as little or as much as you want!
- I don't like to add too much as I like the coffee to still be visible through the fluffy seagull wings!

- Add in ice and peanut butter syrup and top with about 3 oz of espresso. I like to give the mixture a good stir so the syrup gets distributed.
- If you want a stronger latte, you can add more espresso. Or you can add less and top off with a little extra milk.
- You can finish with whatever kind of milk or nondairy alternative you like best. Whole milk, skim milk, oat milk, almond milk, etc. all work well.
There's really no wrong way to make this. It's so simple, but also so blow-your-mind amazing. Why hasn't the Fluffy Seagull always been a thing?
Something tells me this drink is going to continue to be hugely popular with people lining up to get it on the Cape, but also lots of coffee shops around the country offering their own versions.

And, of course, lots of people making it at home, too!
It's hard to describe how perfect this iced coffee drink is. If you're a fan of fluffernutter sandwiches, you are going to love it.
I worried the fluff flavor wouldn't come through since it's just lining the walls of the cup, but you really do get lots of marshmallow fluff flavor in every sip!

🎉 Flavor variations
I'm showing you how to make the drink as close as possible to how the cafe makes it. But, of course, you can easily make this drink your own! Here are some ideas:
- Add a little banana syrup or banana puree for a banana fluffernutter drink
- Add a little mocha sauce for an even more decadent latte
- Add some strawberry syrup for a peanut butter and jelly fluffernutter spin
- Mix the peanut butter syrup with salted caramel syrup
- Top the latte with some lightly toasted marshmallows for some campfire flavor
- Add some bourbon for a delicious spiked fluffy seagull latte
Honestly, you may just want to start smearing fluff on the cups of all your coffee drinks!

Have you heard of a Fluffy Seagull latte?

Ingredients
- 3 tablespoon marshmallow fluff
- Ice
- 3 oz espresso
- 1 oz peanut butter syrup store-bought or homemade with recipe below
- 8 oz milk (use the dairy or nondairy alternative of your choice)
Peanut Butter Syrup
- 1 ½ cups water
- ⅓ cup peanut butter
- ½ cup granulated sugar
Instructions
- Use the back of a rubber spatula or spoon to smear wide patches of fluff against the inside walls of a cup.
- Fill glass with ice.
- Add peanut butter syrup and espresso to glass. Add milk of your choice to fill the rest of the cup.
Peanut Butter Syrup
- Combine peanut butter, granulated sugar, and water in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat. Stir continuously with a whisk or wooden spoon as mixture heats to dissolve the sugar and fully mix the peanut butter into the liquid.
- Once the mixture reaches a boil, the mixture should be fully blended. Reduce heat to low and let simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until mixture has thickened.
- Pour syrup into a mason jar or bowl and place in fridge to cool completely before using.
- When ready to use, shake well. You may want thin syrup out a bit by heating it in the microwave for 20-30 seconds.
Notes
- Peanut butter syrup should keep fresh for about 2 weeks when stored in an airtight container in the fridge.
