With all the flavor of an everything bagel, this Everything Bagel Salmon is a whole lot healthier and the perfect easy weeknight dinner!
If I'm going to eat a bagel, it needs to be a really good bagel. Or a just OK bagel, but a bagel that's packed with a) cream cheese or b) bacon, eggs, AND cheese.
I also prefer one of three varieties of bagels: 1) jalapeño cheddar, 2) french toast, or 3) everything. I think there are probably some exceptions and probably bagel varieties that I haven't even been introduced to yet, but as of today, those are my bagel standards.
If these bagel standards can't be met, I'd really just prefer a donut, thank you very much. Everything bagels are a little strange (let's just throw everything on a bagel!) and not even really literally everything (after all, you don't find little french toast bits... or raisins on everything bagels), but so, so delicious. I'm guessing it's mostly because of the garlic and onion and I'm totally OK with that.
While on our recent vacation in Maine, Chris and I had dinner at Perkin's Cove's Northern Union. On the menu was Everything Bagel Salmon and I thought "omg best idea ever!" However, I didn't order it, mainly because Lobster Squid Ink Gnocchi was also on the menu and when in Maine and all.
But I couldn't get it out of my head and one of the first things I did when I got home from Ogunquit was to make my own version of Everything Bagel Salmon. It's ridiculously easy and perfect for a healthy weeknight dinner.
EVERYTHING BAGEL SALMON RECIPE
All this everything bagel salmon requires is mixing up a quick spice mix (which, let's be honest, you may as well make a huge batch of to always have on hand for emergency situations) and baking your salmon.
I highly recommend serving the salmon over rice with a nice healthy portion of vegetables on the side... I went with brown rice and asparagus with grape tomatoes.
I try to fit a good amount of salmon into my diet since I love it and it's so healthy, so I'm always on a quest to find fun new salmon recipes. I was thrilled that this everything bagel salmon came out so wonderfully and I'll be adding it to my make-again list!
There's no denying that everything bagel spice rocks, but it's so ridiculously delicious on more than just bagels (I mean, you can even buy a bottle of everything bagel spice a the grocery store!)
And OK, I can admit that a piece of salmon is not the same as a bagel. I mean, carbohydrates are carbohydrates after all. But you know you're trying to cut back on carbs anyway (right??) and when you replace them with something totally healthy like salmon, but still get all the flavor of an everything bagel, I consider that a total win.
Is this making anyone else just plain crave an everything bagel with smoked salmon?? I'm actually not a huge smoked salmon fan (one of the few foods I'm just not that into), but even I feel like I'm going to need to find one for breakfast tomorrow.
In the meantime, I'm adding this Everything Bagel Salmon to my regular weeknight dinner rotation and dreaming about what else I can start putting that everything bagel spice on.
So, now who is going to talk me out of french toast salmon? Don't worry... Jalapeño cheddar might be next on my list!

The coating on the salmon sounds delicious and it's such a healthy meal too. I also like to try and eat salmon as often as I can although unfortunately the rest of my family prefer white fish.

What an awesome and creative idea! Salmon is one of our most-cooked fishes so I'm always looking for different ways to prepare it. This is definitely going on the list 😉

I've got salmon in my refrigerator right now that I was planning on making for dinner! I'm like you, lots of cream cheese on an everything, or jalapeno cheddar bagel. But I want it to be a GOOD bagel too, which can be hard to find in the south. I made them myself once and had bagels coming out of my ears for weeks lol.

Salmon bagels are my best, but with smoked salmon, cream cheese and capers. And maybe a little bit of dill. We don't get fresh salmon here so I am looking forward to eating it next month when we are in Scotland.
