Despite being called the Cannon Ball Drink (named after a competition in the Mr. Beast Games), this drink is actually something you could have been ordering yourself for years! It's nothing new at all; it's just been given a name and added to the menu.
The drink is essentially lemonade with Strawberry Acai Refresher base and Mango Dragonfruit Refresher base mixed in and freeze-dried fruit inclusions on top. That's it!
It's easy to make at home, but I will tell you that it's a bit difficult to get the same layered look as you'll get when you order it in the coffee shop.
That's because the Refresher bases
Starbucks makes the drink by shaking together lemonade and the two Refresher bases and pouring the clear mixture into an ice-filled cup. Then they top the drink with fruit inclusions and their red and pink color drips down to create a pretty layered look.
🥤 What is the Mr. Beast Starbucks drink?
The Cannon Ball Drink (AKA Mr. Beast drink) is ½ lemonade, ¼ Strawberry Acai Refresher base, and ¼ Mango Dragonfruit base.
Because of the way the drink is built (with freeze-dried fruit inclusions added on top instead of shaken into the drink), the drink has a pretty layered look.
After lots of testing, I was able to get my drink slightly layered, but there are also ways you can make it at home to get it more perfectly layered.
🗒 Ingredients
Here's what you need for the drink. Be sure to view the recipe card at the bottom of this post for more details and/or click on the links for the bases below to learn what you need for each and how to make them:
- Lemonade
- Strawberry Acai Refresher Base: if you want your drink to have more of a layered look, I recommend omitting the fresh strawberries from the ingredients and simply adding ½ teaspoon of clear strawberry extract to the mixture once you remove it from the heat.
- Mango Dragonfruit Base: if you want your drink to have more of a layered look, I recommend making the dragonfruit syrup with fresh white flesh dragonfruit instead of with dragonfruit powder. I unfortunately, haven't been able to find a clear dragonfruit syrup.
- Freeze-dried strawberries
- Freeze-dried dragonfruit
🍓 Recipe tips
- While
Starbucks shakes their lemonade and clear bases together with ice, I recommend pouring separately if your bases have any color to them.

- Start by pouring the lemonade into a cup and then topping with lots of ice.

- Then slowly pour the two bases mixtures over the ice. And top with the freeze-dried strawberries and dragonfruit.
Because the bases are thicker/more viscous than lemonade, they tend to sink pretty quickly. BUT I found if I let the drink sit for a few minutes, the layering does appear a little more visible.

And it tastes like the Cannon Ball Drink even if it doesn't look exactly like it. It's very sweet and packed with fruity flavor with a touch of tartness from the lemonade.
Yes, it's very fruity as it has strawberry, acai, passionfruit, mango, dragonfruit, and lemon flavors.
The only way to make it even fruitier is to add more syrup, like raspberry syrup or cherry syrup.
But it honestly doesn't need any more sweetness and I actually find I like the drink better if I cut it with a bit of water.
However you like it,

Ingredients
- ½ cup lemonade
- Ice
- ¼ cup Strawberry Acai Refresher Base (see recipe below)
- ¼ cup Mango Dragonfruit Refresher Base (see recipe below)
- Freeze-dried strawberries
- Freeze-dried dragonfruit
Strawberry Acai Refresher Base
- 2 ¼ cup white grape juice
- ½ teaspoon acai powder
- ½ teaspoon green coffee extract powder (omit if you don't want caffeine in your drink)
- ¼ teaspoon passionfruit powder
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice (or ½ teaspoon citric acid)
- ½ teaspoon strawberry extract
Mango Dragonfruit Refresher Base
- ½ cup dragonfruit syrup (store-bought or recipe below. Make your own if you want a clear syrup)
- 1 ¼ cup water
- ¼ cup mango nectar (or puree)
- ¾ teaspoon citric acid (or 1 teaspoon lemon juice)
- ½ teaspoon green coffee extract powder (omit if you don't want caffeine in your drink)
Dragonfruit Syrup
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup white flesh dragonfruit
Instructions
- Pour lemonade into a glass. Top with lots of ice.
- Slowly pour both Refresher bases over the ice. Top with freeze-dried fruit inclusions.
Strawberry Acai Refresher Base
- Pour white grape juice into a medium saucepan and warm over low heat. You don't want to bring to a boil and are just heating so you can dissolve powders more easily.
- Whisk acai powder, green coffee bean extract powder, and passionfruit powder into the juice until the powders are mostly dissolved (acai powder is tough to fully dissolve, so there will be some granules remaining).
- Remove from heat and stir in lemon juice and strawberry extract. Return to heatproof bowl or pour into large mason jar and put in fridge to cool completely.
Mango Dragonfruit Refresher Base
- Add dragon fruit syrup, water, mango nectar, citric acid, and green coffee bean powder (if using) to a large jar or container. Shake well to combine and refrigerate until ready to use.
Dragonfruit Syrup
- Put water, sugar, and diced dragon fruit in a medium-size saucepan and bring mixture to a boil.
- Once boiling, lower heat and let simmer for about 15 minutes, until mixture has thickened a bit and dragon fruit is softening.
- Strain mixture into a bowl, being sure to press down on the dragon fruit to extract as much juice as possible.
- Keep syrup in bowl or pour into a mason jar and place in fridge to cool completely before using. Syrup will continue to thicken as it cools.
Notes
- This recipe for Strawberry Acai Base makes enough for about 8 full Cannon Ball Drinks if using ¼ cup per drink.
- The base recipe makes enough for about 8 full drinks if using ¼ cup of base per drink.
- The bases can keep fresh in your fridge for about 2 weeks.
- If you don't want caffeine in your drink, you can leave out the green coffee extract as it doesn't change the flavor. Or you can add more for more caffeine.
- The recipe above is for clear dragonfruit syrup. If you want the syrup to be pink, you can use dragonfruit powder. See full dragonfruit syrup recipe for more ideas.
