One of the best ways of showing love is through food. And especially through sweet treats.
Flowers are nice and boxes of chocolates are great; but what about a special Valentine snack mix customized for your loved one?
This treat doesn't necessarily need a recipe; but you can think of it more as a jumping off point for mixing up a snack mix that your Valentine will be thrilled to get.
In addition to gifting, you can also serve it at your Galentine's Day celebrations, school Valentine's Day parties, or simple movie nights on the couch.
❤️ Why this recipe works
The best sweet and salty balance: while this snack mix is mostly candy and sweet treats, the salty pretzels cut through some of the sweetness and make this mix truly addictive.
Strawberry vanilla base: while you can use any cereal as a base, the Chex Strawberry Vanilla blend instantly makes this mix taste like a Valentine's Day treat.
Lots of different textures: from the crunchy cereal and pretzels to the chewy gummies, soft marshmallows, and creamy chocolate; this mix really has it all!
Melted white chocolate brings everything together: when you drizzle white chocolate over the mix, you get the yummy snack mix clumps everyone will love.
No oven is necessary: everything comes together in one bowl and a microwave (for melting the chocolate), which makes it fast, mess-free, and easy to scale up for parties or gifting.
Incredibly versatile: I'm sharing my favorite Valentine snack mix blend, but you can really make this mix with absolutely any candies, cereals, and snacks that you want.
🗒 Ingredients
Here's everything I love using in my Valentine snack mix (I'll also link to as many ingredients as I can as some of the Valentine-specific candy can be harder to find). Be sure to view the recipe card at the bottom of this post to see how much of each ingredient I use in my balanced mix:
- Strawberry Vanilla Chex Cereal
- Mini pretzels
- Valentine's M&Ms
- Reese's peanut butter mini hearts
- Swedish Fish hearts
- Strawberry heart marshmallows
- Valentine's gummy bears
- White chocolate chips or wafers
💘 How to make Valentine snack mix
Obviously, this isn't a hard snack to make and it barely even needs a recipe. But I still have a few tips that can help you make this!
- Use a really large bowl- even bigger than you think you need as this will help you toss the ingredients well.
- You want everything in your mix to be relatively the same size, so if you need to cut some of the candies or marshmallows, you can do this.

- After you melt your white chocolate, let it cool for a couple minutes (just slightly!) and then drizzle it over the snack mix and toss well. I like to drizzle a little bit, toss, drizzle a little more, toss again, etc.

- If you want bigger clusters, you can spread the mix out on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet after tossing and let it set for 10-15 minutes.

- Serve the Valentine snack mix in individual servings, otherwise you're likely to eat way too much in one sitting!
If you're a fan of combining the sweet and salty and fruity and chocolatey together, you are going to love this snack mix exactly as is.
Every bite is different, but absolutely delicious.

⏲️ How to store
I recommend storing this mix in an airtight container at room temperature. Be sure to wait until the chocolate is set before storing it. When stored properly, it should stay fresh for 4-5 days.
If you can keep it around that long!
You can also feel free to pack it up in cellophane bags or mason jars for gifting purposes.

🎉 Variations on recipe
Of course, your loved may have their own candy and snacking preferences and it's super easy to customize this snack mix to anyone's tastes!
