You thought we were done with lavender drink recipes? Nope, we most certainly are not! When
But, of course, you can create any drink you want with the lavender powder. And the coffee shop decided to introduce a new limited-edition drink using the powder: the Lavender Oatmilk Chill.
This drink is perfect for anyone who wants to try the lavender powder in a caffeine and dairy-free drink. It's simple to order and also very easy to make at home!
🥤 What is the Lavender Oatmilk Chill?

It's one of the most simple drinks you can order, which also makes it quick and easy to make at home.
Many customers describe it as a delicious dairy-free sweet lavender milk and though there's nothing complicated about it, it's a gorgeously hued drink.

If you're looking for an easy way to enjoy lavender powder in a refreshing drink at home, but are trying to avoid caffeine, the Lavender Oatmilk Chill is perfect.
Of course, it's also dairy-free since it's made with oat milk, though you can certainly make it with any milk or non-dairy alternative you choose.
This is one of the easiest lavender drinks to make at home since you only need a few ingredients. I do recommend making your own lavender powder (I provide a simple recipe in this post!), but you can use store-bought lavender syrup if you want to make it even easier.
You'll also likely love the Lavender Oatmilk Chill because it's an absolutely gorgeous drink! The purple lavender powder and oat milk mix into a beautiful hue and the added dragonfruit pieces introduce pretty swirls of magenta.
Even if this drink wasn't so delicious, I'd want to make it for its Instagram-worthiness alone!
🗒 Ingredients
Here's everything you need to make the perfect Lavender Oatmilk Chill at home (be sure to view the recipe card at the bottom of this post for ingredient amounts and full recipe instructions):
- Oat milk
- Ice
- Lavender powder: I include my recipe for homemade lavender powder in this post, but if you prefer, you can substitute with lavender syrup (store-bought or homemade). To see a more in depth post, along with lots of ideas for using it, check out my full Starbucks lavender powder recipe.
- Freeze-dried dragonfruit pieces
And here's what you'll need if you're making your own lavender powder:
- Dried lavender: make sure it's culinary grade for safe consumption.
- Granulated sugar
- Black currant powder: this will give the powder its pretty purple hue as the lavender flowers won't actually be purple enough. If you want the drink to be extra purple, you'll definitely want this ingredient (or another purple fruit/veggie powder), though the dragonfruit pieces will add some magenta coloring, too. If you're using this powder to make the iced lavender latte, the coloring isn't as important since the purple color doesn't really show up in the drink.
- Salt
- Soy lecithin powder: this ingredient is optional, but does help prevent the powder from clumping when its added to liquid.
🪻 How to make lavender powder
This homemade lavender powder is super easy to whip up at home, though you can certainly use a homemade lavender syrup if you prefer.
I do recommend using a spice grinder or coffee grinder to make it. But if you don't have a grinder, you can use a mortar and pestle to grind everything together or you can use a blender or food processor. The grinder will really get you the finest powder though.
Start by putting the dried lavender in a spice blender.
And grinding it up into a powder. Move it to a small bowl.
The beautiful purple lavender turns into a brownish yellow mixture once you grind it up.
That's why I like to add the fruit powder coloring.
Mix in the black currant powder along with the granulated sugar, salt, and soy lecithin powder.
Now, put the mixture back in the grinder (you'll likely have to work in batches) and process again until you get a fine powder.
I recommend storing your lavender powder in a mason jar or another airtight container and keeping it at room temperature.
This recipe makes quite a bit, so you should be able to create quite a few drinks with it!
👩🍳 How to make the Lavender Oatmilk Chill
Now that you have your lavender power (or syrup), the rest of the Lavender Chill is easy to make.
Just add all the ingredients- oat milk, ice, lavender powder (or syrup), and freeze-dried dragonfruit pieces to a shaker.
Shake well to combine and pout entire contents of shaker (including ice) into a cup.
I like to top the drink with a few more freeze-dried dragonfruit pieces.
I love how they take an already pretty drink and make it even more bright and colorful! Lavender and magenta is such a gorgeous color combination.
Could this drink be any simpler? It's basically a cup of ice cold oat milk flavored with lavender with some fun fruity flavor mixed in.
It's perfect for spring and ideal for anyone who loves the idea of a visually-appealing lavender milk drink that has the perfect amount of sweetness.
🥛 Can I use another type of milk?
You won't be able to call it a Lavender "Oatmilk" Chill, but this drink would be tasty with any kind of milk or non-dairy alternative, from skim to whole milk and from almond milk to soy milk.
I think it would be especially delicious with coconut milk for a little bit of a tropical twist!

- If you want more lavender flavor, you can top the oat milk drink off with a cold foam, like the lavender matcha drink has. I provide the lavender cold foam recipe here.
- The drink would also be delicious with a vanilla cold foam or a matcha cold foam.
- You can feel free to add in additional syrups that will complement the lavender flavor. I recommend vanilla syrup, caramel syrup, or hazelnut syrup, but I also think cinnamon dolce syrup would make a really interesting combination with the lavender.
- Add a scoop of vanilla powder.
- Use the freeze-dried fruit of your choice. I love the idea of adding strawberries, blueberries, or even pineapple.

Lavender Oatmilk Chill {Starbucks Copycat}
Ingredients
- 1 ¼ cups oat milk (I recommend barista style or extra creamy)
- Ice
- 1 tablespoon lavender powder (recipe below, but you can substitute with lavender syrup if preferred- see notes)
- ¼ cup freeze-dried dragonfruit pieces
Lavender Powder
- ¼ cup culinary-grade dried lavender
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- 2 ½ teaspoon black currant powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon soy lecithin powder (optional for easier blending in drinks)
Instructions
- Put oat milk, ice, lavender powder, and freeze-dried dragonfruit pieces into a shaker or mason jar and shake well to combine.
- Pour entire shaker (including ice) into a cup. Top with additional dragonfruit pieces, if desired.
Lavender Powder
- Put dried lavender in a spice or coffee grinder and grind flowers into a fine powder. Transfer to small bowl.
- Whisk sugar, black currant powder, salt, and soy lecithin (if using) into ground lavender.
- Transfer mixture back to grinder (you may have to work in batches) and process until entire mixture is a fine powder.
- Store lavender powder in an airtight container at room temperature until ready to use.
Notes
- If using lavender syrup instead of lavender powder, I recommend using 2-3 tablespoons of syrup, depending on how sweet and lavender flavored you want the drink.
