Just when we thought
Their mid-summer 2025 menu launch includes a special edition Firework Frappuccino and a trio of Strato Frappuccinos.
We love a good Frappuccino recipe, especially one that's easy to make at home and especially in the summertime. We may be hoping for some new coffee-focused creations for the fall, but for now, we're going to enjoy the new Strato Frappuccinos!
And today I'm excited to show you how to make the Salted Caramel Mocha Strato Frappuccino at home.
🧋 What are Strato Frappuccinos?
Strato is the Italian word for "layer" and these new Frappuccinos take a typical Frappuccino base and layer it with a cold foam topping.
The three 2025 Strato Frappuccino flavors are:
Salted Caramel Mocha Strato Frappuccino: This coffee-based Frappuccino is made with Mocha sauce and topped with a layer of salted caramel cold foam and a caramel drizzle.
Brown Sugar Strato Frappuccino: This coffee-based Frappuccino is topped with brown sugar cold foam and a dusting of cinnamon.
Strawberry Matcha Strato Frappuccino: This matcha Frappuccino is topped with strawberry cold foam.
The Frappuccinos may sound super new and unique, but they're really just taking existing Frappuccino flavors and topping them with cold foam.
🗒 Ingredients for the Salted Caramel Mocha Strato Frappuccino
To make the Salted Caramel Mocha version of the Strato Frappuccinos, you need to start by making a mocha Frappuccino and then top it with a salted caramel cold foam.
For the Frappuccino, you'll need:
- Whole milk
- Mocha sauce: you can use store-bought or make your own with the mocha sauce recipe in this post.
- Espresso or strongly brewed coffee
- Simple syrup:
Starbucks ' coffee Frappuccino syrup isn't flavored, but I think using salted caramel syrup makes this Frappuccino even more delicious (you can always get regular caramel syrup and add some salt to it). You could also use vanilla syrup. - Xanthan gum: this ingredient helps thicken the Frappuccino and really does make a difference. You can substitute with cornstarch, but you will need to use a little bit more.
- Ice
- Salted Caramel Cream Cold Foam: with the recipe I share
- Caramel sauce: for drizzling over the top. You can make your own with this recipe or use store-bought caramel sauce.
For the cold foam, you'll need:
- 2% milk
- Heavy cream
- Salted caramel syrup: you can use store-bought (regular caramel syrup with a pinch of salt added in also works) or with my homemade caramel syrup recipe (with a pinch of salt added in).
🍫 How to make
Making a mocha Frappuccino in a blender is incredibly easy.
Just add the milk, mocha sauce, espresso/coffee, simple syrup, xanthan gum (or corn starch), and ice to the blender and process it until the mixture is smooth and frothy.

Pro Tip: I love adding salted caramel syrup to the Frappuccino instead of plain like

I make the sweet cream cold foam the same way I always do, except I add salted caramel syrup instead of vanilla.
Just add milk, cream, and salted caramel syrup (or caramel syrup with pinch of salt) to a mason jar and shake to combine.
Alternatively, you can stir all ingredients together in a bowl.
If you're not using right away, keep in an airtight container in the fridge. You can use this salted caramel sweet cream in coffee as is if you want.

Turn the sweet cream mixture into cold foam right before using. You can either use an electric frother, hand mixer, or blender. Just add the sweet cream and froth, mix, or blend until the mixture turns into a foam.
Alternatively, you can shake the mixture in a mason jar until it's frothy.

Pour the mocha Frappuccino into a cup and top it with salted caramel cream cold foam. Add a caramel sauce drizzle.
And that's how simple the new

Typically in their mid-season releases,
I never thought I'd want cold foam on a Frappuccino, but I actually like it even more than whipped cream! It's a bit lighter and fluffier and perfect for summer drinks.

Starbucks has been going all in on the cold foams and we can't wait to see what they do next.
